Condition & grading

Are these watches serviced?

Unless a listing says otherwise, no. Watches here are sold running or not running exactly as described, without a recent service. Any vintage piece you plan to wear regularly should see a watchmaker at some point. Budget for it the way you would budget for tires on a used car.

How do you grade condition?

Every watch is photographed uncropped and unretouched, then described from what I can verify in hand. Case wear, dial flaws, hand and crystal condition, and whether the movement is running at the time of listing all go in the description. If I cannot confirm a caliber, a gold content, or a reference number, I leave it out rather than guess.

Are these watches water resistant?

Treat every watch here as not water resistant. Original gaskets on a watch this age are long past their service life, and I do not pressure test. Keep them away from water, including hand washing, showers, and rain.

Sizing & care

How are the measurements taken?

Case measurements in each listing are taken across the case excluding the crown, and lug width is measured between the lugs. Straps ship exactly as photographed. If a bracelet needs links removed, use the Inquire about this item button on that product page before you order and I will tell you what is possible on that specific piece.

How should I care for a vintage watch?

Wind a manual watch fully once a day at the same time and stop when you feel resistance. Keep the crown pushed all the way in. On anything with a date, avoid changing the date between 9pm and 3am, when the change gears are engaged. Store it out of direct sun and away from speakers, laptops, and anything else magnetic.

Ordering, shipping & returns

How does shipping work?

Shipping is calculated at checkout from your address rather than baked into the item price, so you are not paying a padded flat rate on a small parcel. Orders are processed in 1 to 3 business days, Monday through Friday. Every parcel ships with tracking and insurance, and the tracking number goes out by email once the order ships.

How is my order packed, and can you send it as a gift?

Every watch ships padded inside a rigid box, in a plain outer parcel with no branding on the outside. Tracking and insurance are included. If it is a gift, say so in the order notes at checkout and I will keep pricing off the packing slip.

What is your return and cancellation policy?

Returns are accepted within 30 days of delivery. Return shipping is paid by the buyer, and the buyer is responsible for any loss in value if a watch comes back in worse condition than it left. Cancellations are accepted any time before the item has shipped, so if you change your mind, get in touch and I will cancel and refund the order.

If something arrives and it is not what the listing described, tell me and we will make it right.

Still have a question?

Ask before you buy. I would rather answer three questions than have a watch come back.
